Leah remembers, especially at this time of year, her Grandad’s renditions of 'Silent Night' - in German. One of her favourite recent memories is of the photography trip they went on, just the two of them, to Brick Lane in London’s East End, where they took some great photographs of a graffiti artist in action – up an alleyway. Leah says he taught her so much that day. There was also his trick of holding a dessert spoon wedged in his eye socket, while he said: “I lost my eye in the war!” Rebecca especially remembers Grandad’s big hugs, and his glasses which always seemed to have only one lens. She also fondly remembers their shared love of Nutella, which he insisted on pronouncing “Noo-tella”. Josh said: “I will always remember the look on Grandad’s face whenever I came to visit him.” |
