- Enid Cavell Williams was born September 1917 in Neath, and is recorded in the 1921 Census as living at an address in Neath with her older brother and her parents.
- Her mother died in 1922 aged 48 when Enid was five years old.
- Her father remarried in 1923.
- The 1939 Register shows Enid as being a nurse in the maternity section of the Royal Infirmary St. James, Bristol.
- Enid joined Woolverstone Hall in 1952 as a nursing sister in Sick Bay.
- She left at the end of the Summer Term 1959 to work at Avery Hill Training College. (Janus 1959).
- She married John Sidney H. Smitherman in Hong Kong in 1962.
- John Smitherman died in early 1984 aged 72 in South West Surrey.
- Enid Smitherman died in July 2017, two months short of her 100 years birthday. At the time she was living in Porthcawl.
