Chris Snuggs Berners/Halls 58-65: He was indeed a military Commander and also a commanding figure: tall, upright and not surprisingly with military bearing! He always looked serious in a good way, which is appropriate in a bursar, which he was during my time at WHS (58 to 65), serving in all from 1950 to 1966. I never had occasion to speak to him, but he was often seen walking purposefully between the main buildings. Significantly, he invariably sat next to Headmasters Smitherman or Bailey in the school photos, and as recorded in "Janus" was greatly missed when he passed away in 1966. His distinguished naval career is desribed below.
I believe he had a very pretty daughter, Patricia, but I myself never caught sight of her!! He was probably wise to keep her well out of our way!
