JAMES ATKINSON (October 20, 1944 - July 20, 2006), known as Jim.

Chris Snuggs - Berners/Halls 58-65: "I was three years younger than Jim and did not know him at school, though I must have seen him around. As I recall, he did not have a high sporting or arts profile, which would have led me to remember him better. We reconnected on the first barge cruise in 2003 organised by Peter Brown, Mike Bysh and me. He was wonderful company and a joy to sail with on Peter's yacht. It was devastating for us when he was taken so quickly by MND only three years later. It seemed hideously cruel; he was only 61 and just retired from a brilliant career in government service - which in fact makes him one of our most famous FOBS (Famous Old Boys)."
