Local Scenes - In general, click on each image for the next.

In 2003 I was fortunate enough to be invited to spend a few days up in Woolverstone and thereby to have time to take some photos of the area. It was simply wonderful to find that the scenery along the Shotley Peninsular had changed very little since the fifties. There seemed to have been hardly any building along the river, just the same sumptious and well-spaced mansions of former grandees that we remember from WHS times. Truly this is a triumph of strict planning regulations. In Pin Mill one felt as if in a time-warp - only some of the larger rotting hulks seemed to have disappeared. In short, the scenery as viewed from the rivers Orwell and Stour was truly breathtaking. This area is indeed one of the jewels of the English countryside.

Here are a few souvenir photos of the area, many taken in August, 2003.
