30/11/2023: Nigel Stephen: "Just checking if people on here knew of his passing. I work with his daughter who was happy for me to notify the group of this. She has some Woolverstone memorabilia which she will pass onto me in the fullness of time. She is also happy for me to share those with this group when I receive it."

Dennis Alexander - Hansons/Orwell 59-64: "When I was at WHS there was an anecdote that when Peter went to take the Cambridge entrance exam there were 9 questions on the paper and they had to do 3. After a very short period Peter told the examiner that he had finished. Very patronisingly the examiner explained to him that these weren't 'A' levels and that if he had completed 3 questions he should attempt more in the remaining time as these would be taken into account. To which Peter replied that in fact he had completed all 9. I don't know how true it was but I wouldn't be surprised if it was."

Chris Snuggs - Berners/Halls 58-65: "Very sorry to hear this news. He was a maths genius, no doubt and had a brilliant career. I over-lapped with but never spoke to him, but was always in awe of his scholarship from the first time I saw the Honours Board at WHS when I arrived in Berners House in September 1958. Has any psychiatrist or other medical bod explained why some people are "good at maths" and others (who may have an equally high IQ) are hopeless? That was always mysterious to me. Same I guess with musical talent - the human brain is a thing of wonder and mystery."
