This beautiful park holds special memories for me. I had my first ever date with an IHS demoiselle there sometime in 1963. We walked about for a bit, sat on a bench, talked ....then went to her house and talked some more: rather too much talking and not enough action as I recall! I'm sure that mine was not the only WHS-IHS tryst to take place there over the years ...

The park is a beautiful and magnificent asset for the town. I revisited it on 7th July 2023 and was struck by its size and undulating terrain. I had of course been to the park several times before, but those aspects of it had not really registered.
