Double National Champions!

11 pupils from both the Prep and Senior School took part in the British Schools Pistol National Finals in Cannock on Tuesday 4th February, and we are delighted to report that both the Senior and Intermediate shooting teams won gold and are now National Champions!

In the Senior section, Issy C, Tilly S, and Matilda W took part as both Individuals as well as a team. Issy qualified for a place in the Top 8 knockout final and placed 8th individually. As a team, Issy, Tilly, and Matilda scored 509 points and were equal first. However, after a nail-biting wait, we heard that the gold medal was awarded to the IHS team as they scored more 10’s than the team from Taunton!

The Intermediate team consisted of Anna E, Georgina S, and Emilia W whose combined score of 480 points placed them two points ahead of the silver medallist team giving them the National Champions title.

In the Junior section, we had three individual competitors – Rebecca E (22nd), Molly S (33rd), and Freya W (37th) as well as a Junior team consisting of Willow F-H, Martha H, and Freya W who placed 7th nationally.

A fantastic performance from all the IHS pupils. They have attended numerous training sessions in preparation for this occasion. Thank you to parents for all their support and finally a huge thank you to our Pistol Shooting Coach, Mrs Steel, for everything she brings to developing this sport at school. We are already planning and organising some coaching sessions in preparation for hosting the Regional competition next November.

13 June 2023: One of our Year 10, pupils, Ella Howard, has had continued success following her win at Aston Le Walls by finishing
3rd at the CCIP2*-L National Championships which took place at Belsay Castle, Northumberland during half term. Well done Ella!
