Rich Davis: "I think I remember this game. It was extremely dirty with the Navy throwing lots of punches in the rucks & mauls which forced one of our guys to leave the game with a very bloody face. Still, we won as always to put shame in an older, bigger team."

Jim Hayter: "Rich, that was the year before. I played prop in that game, got the better of my opposite number to which he responded by punching me in the face after every scrum. Ten minutes into the second half - having got nothing from the referee - I decided to leave the pitch as I was fed up being a punch bag."

Rich Davis: "It was so bloody obvious from our point of view on the sidelines. If I remember properly there was no ‘tunnel’ given to them or any kind of respect from our team or from us younger kids."
