The 3rd WHOBA Golf Event - Friday 25th April 2003

6 Woolverstonian Old boys and 1 Woolverstonian House Master's Daughter meet at Edenbridge Golf Club for the 3rd WHOBA golf event.

Joining 3rd time host Terry Carr are Tanja Sadler, Rory Marriott, Simon Ireland, Jim Allgrove, Chris Fuller and Peter Almond.

After enjoying a hot bacon sarnie, Simon, Chris, Tanja and Rory head off to the 1st Tee on the Jubilee Course for the start of a 9 hole Texas Scramble. Terry, Peter, Jim and his "remote control golf buggy" follow in hot pursuit. Electronic wizardry was not good enough for T, P and J and S, C, T and R won a bottle of red wine each as a result of their far superior golfing ability ;-)

After a Ploughman's lunch (and a pint or two) the afternoon's Stableford Tournament teed off. T, P and J (having been fed up waiting during the morning) went first. All was going according to plan until the fourth tee when Tanja Sadler had the misfortune of turning her ankle over on a sprinkler point. This ended the day for her and Rory. He carted her off to the local hospital for an X-Ray which later proved that the ankle was broken (Golf now classed as an "extreme" sport).

Back at the golf course Jim went from strength to strength and his consistency meant that he won the main event of the day.

Once play had finished and drinks had been consumed at the 19th all players returned to Terry's pub for a meal before going their separate ways.

Terry has promised to hold another event, so COME ON THE REST OF YOU GOLFERS, let's get the numbers up to double digits!!!!!!

Terry Carr has since died; over 1,000 people attended his funeral. I once worked with him in the WHS Sports Store and kicked a rugger ball around with him - a happy memory. R.I.P. Terry. Chris Snuggs April 2022
